12 Days of Christmas: Day 11

12 Days of Christmas Giveaway | thedomesticfour.com

“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!” -Buddy The Elf

Or give someone a delicious treat…

Today’s addition of the 12 Days of Christmas Giveaway is helping you with a way to spread some Christmas cheer to someone around you! We felt that providing a way for the winner to “pay it forward” on their own would really round our little giveaway out. In a favorite holiday classic, Santa Claus is Comin to Town, when explaining why Santa chose December 24 as his night to deliver the toys the mailman explains,

“He chose, of course, the holiest night of the year, the night of profound love, which was the perfect night for giving.”

Isn’t that the heart of this awesome holiday that we anxiously await for month after month? Giving. And that was at the heart of doing this giveaway as you can recall from our very first post.

I am sure you all have seen the “giving plate.” I feel it is such a neat idea, a plate full of goodies passed around amongst family and friends, not to keep, but for you to enjoy what was given to you, and turn around pass along to someone else! Printed on each plate is nice poem explaining how the giving plate works.  While I love the thought of the plate, the more we thought about it, the more we decided something with a lid would probably be a better choice incase the person receiving needed something more secure.  On this tin there will be a poem on a tag that will simply say….

“This traveling tin of Christmas cheer

We give to you our neighbor, dear,

We send warm wishes and affection

With this holiday confection….

May days be wonderful and bright,

May peace surround your home at night.

Then when you’ve filled this tin once more,

Leave it at another neighbor’s door.”

To the winner, also included with this tin, will be a favorite cookie recipe from our great aunt AND a $10 Giftcard to Walmart for you to purchase your ingredients! These sugar cookies are the best, and even if we did not make them, we could always count on a box of them in the mail!

The recipe is a keeper, I’m sure once you make them you will use this recipe anytime you need to make sugar cookies!

However, what we would like you to do is keep the recipe with the tin as it travels.  If you like the recipe and would like to keep it, you may write it down, but keeping the recipe card with the tin is something we would love to see happen. You may fill the tin with the sugar cookies from the recipe we included, or fill it with your own holiday treat that you love!

Even though only one winner will be receiving the tin, Giftcard, and fancy printouts – we wanted to include the recipe & poem for YOU to use in your neighborhood. Please take photos and share them on our Facebook page or on Instagram (@thedomesticfour)!

This is awesome! I would give it to my neighbor a few doors down whose hubby recently died and she will now spend her first Christmas in an empty house. Thank you for thinking of this….your giving hearts are truly inspiring!
