Chicken Cordon Bleu Crescents

I have to first admit that I LOVE Chicken Cordon Bleu.  Which is surprising because I recently learned that the cheese that abounds in this glorious goodness is Swiss and I cannot stand Swiss cheese.  That newly found fact, compiled with the higher price tag of the pre-made ones, and this cheapskate is not purchasing them.

When I came across this recipe, it skyrocketed to the top of my menu for this week; knowing that I could substitute a different cheese, if needed.  But, I went ahead with the Swiss and I am so glad that I did.  I am confident in saying that this a new family fave.  It is also SUPER easy and quick to prepare…so I am sure we will be having them a few times during Hubby’s upcoming football season.

As with all recipes, make sure you have all necessary ingredients.


2-3 chicken breasts (Shredded), 2 things of crescent rolls, ham of your choice, Swiss cheese

From here I began building each cordon bleu.  Begin by unrolling your crescent roll.  Top with ham, cheese, and shredded chicken.  If you wish, you could probably cut your chicken into thinner strips or dice it.  I also have seen them made with breaded chicken strips/tenders.  I defrosted skinless breasts, so that’s what we had.  Also by shredding the chicken, I was able to make it stretch.

From here, just roll them up and place on your baking sheet.  Place the crescents into a preheated 375 degree oven and bake for 11-15 minutes.

Once they are finished, pull from the oven and serve with your favorite side; I opted for green beans with almonds and garlic.  Upon research I also discovered that it was suggested serving Cordon Bleu with honey mustard…this was most definitely new to me.  Not having any honey mustard on hand, I went with my ultimate back up…Homemade Chic-Fil-A Sauce.  (I have included that recipe below for you too!) I promise…you will NOT be disappointed.


It was as good as it looks…and I ate it all!

Homemade Chick-Fil-A Sauce

1/2 cup mayonnaise (or miracle whip if you prefer the tangy zip!)2 Tbsp mustard
2 Tbsp honey
1  Tbsp vinegar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
Salt and Pepper to your liking

Toss all ingredients into a bowl and give it a good stir.  Enjoy!

Chicken Cordon Bleu Crescents

2-3 chicken breasts – shredded
2 tubes of crescents
8 slices of Swiss cheese
16 pieces of ham

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Unroll crescent rolls.  Layer ham, 1/2 a slice of cheese, and chicken on crescent.  Roll crescent and place on a baking sheet.  Bake for 11-15 minutes.  Partner with your favorite side and dipping sauce of your choice.  Enjoy!
