So, first I have to start by apologizing to everyone! About three months ago every single thing in our existence started to fall apart. The whole family got the stomach flu, two weeks later the whole family came down with colds and ear infections, then the computer decided to blow up – for real this time. There is only so much I can do from my cell phone. Which, consequently and in accordance with my existence, also crapped the bed this month.
We press onward. I was able to fix my computer (by replacing the fan and then the keyboard and then the charger – and now I just realized I need to buy a new battery for it. Yay!) so here I am. Back to writing.
Let’s hope I can get back into the swing of things before we start packing up our home for yet another move. 🙂
Over the past few months I started selling Mary Kay. This is the part where more than half of you turn the corner and run – but I beg you to please just wait it out and read through the REVIEW. I chose to start selling Mary Kay for a few simple reasons and the main one being – I needed some extra cash. So far, I’ve made pretty much -$100.00. Yes, negative. This doesn’t seem to be going well, does it?
Okay let me back up a little bit …
I’ve been using Mary Kay since I was about 13 or 14. My mom was never one to get us onto acne medication or buy the Noxema when our skin went through the hormonal changes. I’ve got to be honest – I’m glad she didn’t. She herself is a Mary Kay loyalist and has used it for years, and years, and years. She brought us up in the right way and when teenage hormones began to ravage our bodies she was standing there with the Mary Kay skincare to save our precious skin.
Now, over the years what I use has changed. As a teenager I used the Velocity line (which has since been discontinued) and once I hit my 20s I have been loyal to the Timewise Age-Fighting line. I used the makeup off and on, but truthfully, I switched to Bare Minerals and MAC products because I felt they had more variety and better consistency. (Maybe as a consultant I shouldn’t be THIS honest, but I think it’s important that I am!)
Fast forward to present day and I was tossing and turning all night knowing that my family could really use the extra money here and there until my student loans are paid off. That next day I asked my mom about being a Mary Kay consultant and started working on opening my Etsy shop again. (That’s coming soon!) So in about one day’s time I set a new trajectory for my existence.
Being completely transparent, I forced myself to buy some Mary Kay makeup to see if the formulations and options have changed over the years. I was pleasantly surprised! I ditched my MAC and Bare Minerals in the trash (for real … ) and have been rocking the Mary Kay skincare AND makeup for a few months now.
But this review is just focusing on the Timewise Anti-Aging line. You ready for something impressive?
This was after only 3 weeks of consistently using MK skincare and makeup. I didn’t use a different routine – just different products. These pictures are raw and directly from my cell phone – no touchups whatsoever! I can say, at almost 27, that I am extremely happy with my skin.
Here’s my very FIRST “before and after” that I made the day my kit arrived! No makeup vs makeup! *Note: I had just done microdermabrasion so my face was rather red, but Mary Kay foundation handled it without flaw!
Here’s products used:1. Timewise Age-Fighting Moisturizer (Combo/Oily formula) – $24.00 – For your cleanser and moisturizer in the Timewise Anti-Aging line you choose what is best based upon your skin type – whether that be combination/oily or normal/dry. This moisturizer is non-comedogenic (meaning it will not clog your pores), oil-free (no mineral oil), fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, and suitable for sensitive skin.
What I love: Moisturizing! It does exactly what it says it will do. This is coming from someone who has lived in Colorado and Wyoming and survived our extremely dry winters using only this moisturizer on my face! As someone with oily skin there is a fine line between moisturizing and oil slick. This is perfectly hydrating without creating an oily t-zone situation on my face. I also feel like it does a fantastic job of “calming” my skin down. I do have rather sensitive skin and I need something that will be kind to it as well as meeting my anti-aging needs.
2. Timewise 3-in-1 Cleanser (Combo/Oily formula) – $20.00 – Again I am using the combo/oily formula due to my skin type. If you choose to purchase you will need to note your skin type and purchase accordingly. As with the moisturizer the cleanser is also non-comedogenic, oil free, hypoallergenic, and fragrance-free. This is important for any skin care you use! So please take note to what you are using, read your labels, and make sure you’re taking care of your skin!
What I Love: One time my husband and I were talking about how you “just don’t feel clean unless you….” I think everyone has different answers to this. I cannot get out of a shower without washing my face. Even if I’m not wearing makeup, I HAVE to wash my face before I am finished showering. ESPECIALLY if I’m wearing makeup! This cleanser I have been using since was 19. I don’t see myself ever wanting to use anything else. The gel foams up and cleans out those little pores, with little age-fighting beads that dispense all that wonderful age-fighting miracle juice. This product cleans off every ounce of makeup you can fathom. (Yes, even waterproof and water resistant mascara!) It’s good for my skin, and unlike most cleansers formulated for oily skin, my skin IS NOT dry following a cleansing. Can’t beat that!
3-in-1 Cleanser Combination/Oily
3-in-1 Cleanser Normal/Dry
3. Timewise Night Solution – $32.00 – Ya’ll … I call this Jesus in a Bottle. I ran out for a few days and I was hurting. Bedtime routine wasn’t the same. I laid in bed at night and thought about that wonderful, cooling, relaxing feeling as I apply this after my evening shower. Again, as with all Mary Kay skincare, this product is non- comedogenic, fragrance-free, oil-free, suitable for sensitive skin, and hypoallergenic. This little solution has wonderful ingredient to help you combat the signs of aging in your skin. Important note: DON’T forget the neck!
What I Love: Everything! Seriously. The feel as it goes on, the feel after it is absorbed into my skin, and the IMPROVEMENT in my skin! Dark spots have disappeared, elasticity has improved, it’s like an evening hug for face and neck. This is one item that I stress be purchased in conjunction with Timewise Moisturizer. It’s just a little kick that your skin needs to combat … oldsville.
Together these little products will run you about $76.00. A few of my customers have been able to go 2 months without purchasing another round – which seems to be about average. My moisturizer tends to last about 2 months, cleanser 5-6 weeks, and night solution about 2 and 1/2 months. My recommendation is always to purchase 2 cleansers for each bottle of moisturizer and night solution that you purchase.
Another option is to purchase the Timewise Miracle Set for $95.00. What’s different? A day solution with 35 SPF. I personally do not use the day solution BECAUSE it contains SPF. I have extremely sensitive skin and any SPF product isn’t that kind to it. If you use a daily SPF and want to add an additional punch to your anti-aging regimen than your best bet is to purchase the Miracle Set!
Well! That’s it – sorry for the lengthy review!
